Why use a reels downloader?

Instagram lets you save a reel to a collection inside the app, but not to your device, and saved reels disappear when the creator deletes them. A downloader gives you a regular video file that you can watch offline, keep for reference or play on any device.

  • Watch reels offline on a flight or with a weak connection.
  • Keep a recipe, workout or tutorial that you want to follow later.
  • Back up reels you published yourself, including older ones.
  • Collect examples for marketing research or a creative brief without following the account.

Download without logging in to Instagram

The reels downloader never asks for your Instagram username or password and never uses your account. The reel is requested by our server and the video is passed through to your browser, so nothing you download is connected to your profile, and creators do not see who saved their reel. The only thing you need is the link itself.

Only reels from public accounts can be downloaded. Reels of private accounts are shared with approved followers only, and no tool can open them without the owner's permission.

Video quality, sound and file format

You get the same video file Instagram streams in its app, usually in HD and as an MP4 that plays on iPhone, Android, Windows and Mac without extra software. The sound is included as it plays on Instagram. Music that Instagram has muted because of licensing restrictions stays muted in the file as well.

We do not re-encode, compress or watermark the video. If a reel looks soft, the creator most likely uploaded it in a lower resolution.

Where the reel is saved

DeviceWhere to find the file
iPhone and iPadSafari saves it to the Downloads folder in the Files app. Open it and use Share → Save Video to move it to Photos.
AndroidThe Download folder; most gallery apps show it right away.
Windows and MacYour browser's download folder, usually Downloads.

Want every reel of a creator?

If you would rather browse than paste links one by one, the Instagram reels viewer shows all reels of a public profile in a grid with their view counts. Open any of them to watch or download it. For photos and carousels, use the photo downloader.

Frequently asked questions

Is the reels downloader free?

Yes. There is no registration, subscription or download limit beyond basic protection against automated abuse.

Does the creator know that I downloaded their reel?

No. Instagram does not notify creators about downloads, and the downloader does not use your Instagram account, so the download cannot be linked to you.

Why does my link not work?

Check that the link points to a reel or post (it contains /reel/ or /p/) and that the account is public. Deleted reels and reels that are restricted in some regions cannot be loaded.

Can I download reels from private accounts?

No. Private reels are only visible to approved followers. Any site that claims otherwise should not be trusted with your data.

Do I need to install an app?

No. The downloader runs in any modern browser on phones, tablets and computers.

Can I repost a downloaded reel?

Reels belong to their creators. Keep downloads for personal use and ask the creator for permission before reposting or editing their video.
