How to download Instagram stories
- Enter the accountType the username, or paste a story link such as
instagram.com/stories/username/…, and press View profile. - Open a storyAll live stories are listed in order with their posting time. Open one to watch it in full size.
- Save itPress the download icon to keep the photo or video. Use the arrows to move to the next story and save it as well.
Save stories before the 24 hours are up
Instagram stories are removed from public view 24 hours after they are posted. Unless the owner adds a story to a highlight, it is gone for everyone except the owner. The story downloader lets you keep a copy of a story you want to remember – a recipe, an event announcement, a discount code or a moment a friend shared publicly.

Download without appearing in the viewer list
When you watch a story in the Instagram app, your account is added to the list of viewers that the owner can see. The story downloader works without your account: our server loads the story and passes it to your browser. Because no Instagram account of yours is involved, there is no name that could appear in the list. The anonymous story viewer explains this in more detail.
What the downloaded story looks like
- Photo stories are saved as image files, video stories as MP4 videos with sound.
- You get the media the owner uploaded. Stickers, polls, music and text that Instagram draws on top in the app may not be part of the file.
- Files are saved in the quality Instagram serves to its app, without a watermark from us.
- Close Friends stories and stories of private accounts cannot be seen or downloaded.
Frequently asked questions
Will the person know I downloaded their story?
No. Instagram does not notify anyone about downloads or screenshots of stories, and the downloader never uses your Instagram account.
Can I download a story that has already expired?
Only if the owner saved it to a highlight. Expired stories that are not in a highlight are no longer public.
Why are no stories shown?
The account has not posted a story in the last 24 hours, its stories have expired, or the account is private.
Does the story downloader work on phones?
Yes. It runs in the browser on iPhone and Android. On iPhone, downloaded files appear in the Files app first; use Share → Save Image or Save Video to add them to Photos.
Is it free?
Yes. No registration, no subscription and no app.
